class=”sc-cffd1e67-0 fmXrkB”>

Yes, how young Simone Niggli-Luder And Roger Federer 2003 still were. Twenty years ago, both were voted Swiss Athletes of the Year for the first time. Federer was enthusiastic at the time: “Despite all the planning stress, I love these performances. They are a nice reward for my good performance.” And world orienteering champion Niggli-Luder said: “You hope you win, and yet you are nervous because you have to say something.”

Became an artistic gymnast in 1995 and 1996 Donghua Li elected Swiss athlete. And rightly so, because the Chinese-born became world and European champion in 1995 and even Olympic champion on the pommel horse in Atlanta (USA) in 1996. Today Donghua Li celebrates his 56th birthday.

The Swiss Athlete of the Year was first named 73 years ago. Back then, the track and field athlete (and football player) won. Armin Scheurer (1917–1990). In 1954, a woman won for the first time, the ski racer Ida Creator-Bieri (1929–2014). From 1971 onwards there was both a Swiss athlete and a female athlete of the year.
