Nicole Schmidhofer (34, Austria) is working as an ORF cameraman for the first time since her dismissal. And of all the places where she could celebrate her greatest career success: in 2017 she became world champion on the Corviglia. «St. Moritz is a special place. I really enjoy being here, the people are nice and it is one of the most selective and beautiful Super-Gs in the World Cup,” she says.

Of course, Schmidhofer not only does her camera movements very well, no, she also knows her way around the ski circus like no other. She is therefore not surprised after Sofia Goggia’s victory. “Some have managed to stay at the top, some in the middle and some at the bottom – but none everywhere. I’m curious to see what kind of show she will give in the coming days.”

“I did not sleep well”

One thing is certain: Corinne Suter (29) would love to crash the next Goggia party on Saturday. The Schwyzerian finished eighth in the Super-G. After placing 21, 26 and 15 in the last three races in this discipline in St. Moritz, this result is okay.

«I was a little more nervous than before and didn’t sleep well. But now the first race is over and I hope it gets better every day.”

Tip from Schmidhofer: “Suter comes third”

Can Suter strike on the descent? Due to illness she missed the important training camp in Copper Mountain (USA). “That is absolutely no advantage,” says women’s head coach Beat Tschuor.

At the same time, Suter’s summer went smoothly, the form is correct. Schmidhofer: “Corinne can finish tenth and win the next day.” Especially on Saturday? ‘She can do it. But I’m betting on Goggia, before Puchner. She comes third.”
