Will FC Sion play in a brand new stadium from the 2030/31 season? Christian Constantin (66) dreams of this in a file that appeared in the Wednesday edition of “L’Illustré”. The president of Sion presented his 510 million francs project in the Western Swiss weekly.
In addition to the stadium for the first team, CC wants to build several football fields between the Bramois and Châteauneuf districts. Above all, he wants to build 600 apartments in the Les Potences district of Sion. This building complex is intended to partially finance the club’s sporting activities. The estimated income of the construction contractor from Martigny is approximately ten million francs per year.
Christian Constantin, who is currently in discussions with the canton of Valais and the city of Sion, is already imagining what his new jewelry box could look like. The stadium should seat 15,000 in ‘football mode’ and accommodate 25,000 people for a concert.
The new, modern building will have “a permanent stage of 1,000 square meters and 4,000 square meters of screens for entertainment and other events of all kinds,” explains “L’Illustré”. The city of Sion and the canton of Valais did not want to comment on this topic “until the analysis is completed, i.e. until the end of the year”.
Meanwhile, the President of Zion has no plans to abandon his ship. Whether his major new stadium project goes ahead or not, CC says he will still be at the helm of his club in the 2024/25 season. “It doesn’t matter whether FC Sion plays in the professional or amateur competition,” says the chairman.
