“Don’t think about the back”: Odermatt is the fastest Swiss in American training

Marco Odermatt passed the first stress test without any problems after the back injury he sustained last week. The man from Nidwalden achieved the eleventh best time in the first training session at the “Birds of Prey” in Beaver Creek. “It felt really good, I never thought about my back the whole ride. But of course, as always, I built in the necessary safety during my first downhill training.”

The only thing that makes Odermatt a bit thoughtful is the fact that after the start in the flat section he lost 65 hundredths to the Norwegian superstar Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. «I didn’t have the deepest race squat there, but I did intend to start well. I also strapped on a racing ski. “Therefore, I will have to analyze this section again in more detail.”

Niels Hintermann lost even more time in the starting box. “I haven’t mastered the material optimally. But there is nothing in this training that would make me worry about the race.” While Stefan Regentin and Justin Murisier are in the top 15, Austrian top all-rounder Marco Schwarz finishes in 18th place. Schwarz also managed the most in the starting section to make up for the hole.
