The seventeen-year-old motorcycle racer Collin Veijer will have a permanent starting place in the Moto3 class from the coming season. This is the third Dutchman to take part in the MotoGP World Championship alongside Bo Bendsneyder and Zonta van den Goorbergh (both active in the Moto2 class).
Veijer will ride for the Husqvarna Motorcycles team. This year he competed in the Red Bull Rookies Cup where he made a good impression. He is in second place and still has title chances with two races to go.
Veijer will be teammates with experienced Japanese rider Ayumu Sasaki. The opportunity in the Moto3 class is the reward after almost ten years of racing, Veijer told motorsport news site Racesport.
“Since I was eight years old, we from the Netherlands have competed in Italian and Spanish championships to find strong competition and to continuously improve. It feels so good to reach the next level and the next goal now.”
