Is there a historic professional debut?: Milan offers 15-year-old record striker with special permission

AC Milan is struggling with acute personnel problems. No fewer than ten players are not available for the match against Fiorentina on Saturday evening (8:45 p.m.). Without Nati striker Noah Okafor (23, injured) and the Frenchman Olivier Giroud (37, suspension due to a red card), the Rossoneri have only one nominal striker at their disposal with Luka Jovic (25).

To deal with personnel concerns on offense, the Lombards are now relying on their own team. And with Francesco Camarda (15), Milan has one of the greatest striker talents in the world.

Football Association grants exemption

The Milan native made headlines early on. In his first years at Milan, the striker broke numerous records. Between 2017 and 2020 he scored no fewer than 483 (!) goals in 87 matches. An average of almost six goals per match. Camarda is 1.84 meters tall. With his physique and speed he will already be compared to Erling Haaland (23).

Camarda has been playing for Milan’s Primavera (U19) since this season, and the striker has also managed to impress here. He has nine scoring points in thirteen games. Most recently he shone in the UEFA Youth League, the equivalent of the Champions League at junior level, with a remarkable side-footed goal against the Paris Saint-Germain team.

Now he is part of the Rossoneri professional team for the first time. “Talent knows no age,” says Milan coach Pioli about Camarda’s appointment. Due to his age, the Lombards had to obtain an exemption from the Italian football association FIGC. He will initially be on the bench against Florence. Jovic should start in the center of the attack.

Top clubs are lining up

Should Camarda make his first professional appearance against the Tuscans, he would be the youngest debutant in Serie A history at the tender age of 15 years and 259 days. The record is currently still held by Wisdom Amey (18) from FC Bologna. which will be 15 years old in 2021 and has been used for 274 days. Youngest debutant at Milan? None other than club icon Paolo Maldini (55), 16 years, six months and 25 days old.

On March 10, 2024, Camarda will turn 16 years old and can then sign his first professional contract. The Milanese would do well to provide the super talent with a working document as quickly as possible.
