The Winnipeg Jets remain high in the NHL. The team with Nino Niederreiter earned their fourth straight win with a 3-2 overtime win away against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
On the eve of Thanksgiving, the national holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday of November, the National Hockey League is busy. 28 of the 32 teams will be in action for the most important family festival of the year.
With the Lightning, Winnipeg beats a team that also has three wins in the last three games. American Adam Lowry decided in favor of the Jets, who took a 2-0 lead after 99 seconds of extra time in the first period. Niederreiter remains without a goal score.
Roman Josi is also one of the winners of the evening. Nashville defeated the Calgary Flames 4-2 on home ice for their third straight victory. New Jersey isn’t out of the woods either. The Devils, with defender Jonas Siegenthaler the only one of the Swiss quartet, lost 4-0 to the Detroit Red Wings. The fifth defeat in the last six games is already visible towards the end of the first third. The Red Wings score three times within 72 seconds. For New Jersey, attackers Nico Hischier and Timo Meier are again missing due to injuries, goalkeeper Akira Schmid is on the bench.
At least there are increasing signs of Captain Hischier’s return. The Valais native, who last played four weeks ago and has missed ten games since, resumed training with the team this week.
Another loss, the third in a row, wipes out the win for the Arizona Coyotes. The team with Janis Moser had to admit defeat at home to the St. Louis Blues 5:6. The Biel defender prepared American Nick Schmaltz’s goal in the second period to make it 5-4. (SDA)
