Little Mia, the daughter of Tamara Tippler (32), was born in September. Due to her pregnancy, the Austrian speed specialist ended last season prematurely.

Tippler, who has reached the podium ten times in her career, explained at the time that she “no longer had the necessary willingness to take risks to race at the highest level.” On Monday evening, she spoke about the subject again – and fought back tears.

In ServusTV’s ‘Sport and Talk from Hangar 7’ programme, the ski racer recalls a training session in Kvitfjell, Norway, which she abandoned. She was already pregnant at the time, although almost no one knew this. “I didn’t want to risk my life anymore.”

Will Tippler return to the World Cup?

She said to herself, “That’s it, it’s over.” Especially in the speed disciplines you have to take a lot of risks, “I couldn’t get over myself in my head anymore.” She does not rule out a comeback, because the 2025 World Cup at home in Saalbach is a big goal. But when she brings this up, she becomes particularly emotional: “If you think you’re driving down the slope at 90 miles per hour and there’s someone waiting at the bottom…”

A return to the World Cup does not seem as easy as she had imagined after giving birth. She then said: ‘Should I stop because I’m having a child? I don’t see that!” (ch)
