The Norwegians, led by Marianne Rörvik, had also won their first three matches, making Carole Howald, Selina Witschonke, Silvana Tirinzoni and Alina Pätz the only team undefeated after five of the nine round robin rounds.

The four-time world champion from CC Aarau will meet the teams from Estonia and Scotland on Tuesday. The Scottish women have lost much of their playing strength following the dismissal of their long-time skipper Eve Muirhead a year ago.

A strong start is followed by two setbacks

The men from Geneva around skip Yannick Schwaller fell behind after their first victories against Turkey and the Netherlands. They lost against Italy and on Monday 6:9 against Scotland.

In both matches against the medal and title candidates, Pablo Lachat, Sven Michel, Schwaller and Benoît Schwarz were unable to convert an early three-man match into a success. Especially in the second half of the match, they were significantly inferior to the Scottish team led by current world and European champion Bruce Mouat.

The Italians, in turn, continued their excellent form on Monday by beating the Swedish Olympic champions led by Skip Niklas Edin. Nothing is lost for Geneva on their way to the semi-finals. In the last five matches of the Round Robin they meet only one co-favourite, Sweden (SDA/men)
