Karim Adeyemi is causing problems for the DFB.

The young Lucerne captain Ardon Jashari (21) is currently keeping Swiss football busy with his rejection of the SFV. Without precise explanation, he reportedly informed the association that despite his call-up, he would not be available for the U21 national team. What exactly is behind this is not entirely clear to the SFV. Nati director Pierluigi Tami (62) says he is “disappointed” about the unfounded basket. Murat Yakin (49) would now meet Jashari and his entourage to find out the background to the cancellation.

Germany has its own Jashari case

Jashari is not the only talented footballer who disapproves of his club during this international break. A young player is also causing problems in our northern neighbor Germany. Karim Adeyemi (21), who moved from Salzburg to BVB for 30 million euros in the summer of 2022 and has already won four senior caps, refuses to be called up for the DFB U21 team.

As ‘Bild’ writes, Adeyemi’s rejection was not coordinated with the association. And that would not have gone down well with new DFB coach Julian Nagelsmann (36), who has never called up the lightning-fast striker during his tenure.

According to the newspaper, Nagelsmann demands full commitment to the DFB from all players at all selection levels. Adeyemi’s now stay away from the U21 national team could put a damper on his chances of competing with the senior team in the European Home Championships in the summer.

“Sometimes he lacks seriousness”

Antonio Di Salvo (44), coach of the German U21 team, explains that he had already sought a meeting with Adeyemi after the cancellation. «I started conversations with Karim and the club. He currently wants to stay at BVB to achieve his goals. Adeyemi has had little playing time for Dortmund recently and has not scored a goal this season.

Recently, there has been repeated criticism of Adeyemi around BVB. Assistant coach Armin Reutershahn (63) criticized his attitude. “Sometimes I just miss that seriousness,” he said recently. Will it be precisely this lack of seriousness that deprives Germany of the hope of participating in the European Championships? In any case, he certainly didn’t make any new friends by turning down the U21 team. (sbe)
