Mourning after Union departure: fans and ex-players cry for Fischer

Union Berlin without Urs Fischer (57) – unthinkable for many fans. After all, it’s the grumpy Swiss who led Union Berlin to the elite of German football. Former Union players are also speaking out. For example Felix Kroos (32). The younger brother of Real star Toni (33) played in more than 100 games for Union. He responded to Fischer’s firing with a post on Instagram: “Build a statue for the man! Thank you coach.”

Polish goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz (36), who played a crucial role in Fischer’s promotion and establishment in the Bundesliga, also sent a farewell greeting to his former coach. “Thank you for everything! Without you as a coach, as a person, I would not be the professional I am today!”
