FC Sion takes a point deep in injury time.

There is a lot to do in the Challenge League on Friday evening. Although not in the early match between Wil and Bellinzona – this match ends goalless. But even more so in the two late matches between Sion and Vaduz and Xamax and Baden.

Leader Sion avoided an unexpected home defeat against FC Vaduz in the end. After five wins in a row, the team from Valais drew 3-3 against Vaduz at the Stade de Tourbillon. In front of almost 6,000 spectators, Sion overturned a two-goal deficit in a final furore in the 90th minute thanks to Joël Schmied and in the 93rd with an own goal from Benjamin Büchel – all while being outnumbered.

Xamax-Rapp with a three-pack

Before that, the Wallisers went into halftime with ten men in vain, the Brazilian Baltazar saw the yellow-red card before halftime. Sion, which took an early lead through Dejan Sorgic, but then had to accept three goals from Liechtenstein in the first half, managed to successfully defend its leading position after winning a hard-fought point. Because their first pursuer Thun can only close the gap to one point on Sunday with a win over bottom team Schaffhausen.

Xamax is also clenching its fists on Friday evening. The Neuchâtel team ended a winless streak in Baden that lasted almost exactly three months to the day. A hat trick from Simone Rapp and a dream goal from distance from central defender Winkler ensured a 4-0 win for the promoted team from Baden. (SDA/sbe)
