Beat Feuz (r.) competes against 12-year-old Matti in the show “Small vs. Big”.

‘Small versus big – the incredible duel’ is the name of the TV program in which Beat Feuz (36) competes with 12-year-old Matti on Saturday evening in front of an audience of millions. In the German entertainment show, children with special skills compete against prominent adults in various challenges. The challenge on Saturday evening: keep the ball up with your skis as many times as possible. The winner will receive a gift.

Matti starts things off. He juggles the ski bars like a world champion – 225 times in 90 seconds! “My new personal record,” says the boy about his special talent. The audience applauds, Matti’s parents are delighted.

Feuz also shows what he can do

Matti’s juggling skills are an announcement. But if anyone can excel in this discipline on skis, it’s probably Feuz. And look: after initial difficulties – the ball falls off Feuz’s skis after just a few seconds – he juggles the skis 160 times within 90 seconds. Even though that is not enough to win the match against Matti, presenter Kai Pflaume (56) describes the performance as “the Maradona or Messi among skiers!” honored.

The Swiss ex-professional trained accordingly for the big performance. “The very first thing I did was test which ski length was most suitable for the competition,” he said beforehand. He then followed two to three short training sessions so that he was prepared for the new challenge.

By the way, the winner Matti, a big Bayern fan, wins tickets to his favorite club. When player Serge Gnabry (28) gives him a personal video message with the news, the boy’s eyes literally sparkle. Although Feuz comes away empty-handed, the fun remains and, above all, the impression that he can do almost anything with his skis on his feet. (par)
