Scandal at the European Judo Championships: Turkish woman refuses to shake hands with Israeli opponent

class=”sc-29f61514-0 dXbCZE”>

Israeli judoka Tamar Malca’s handshake is not returned at the European Championships.

A politically motivated incident occurs during the European Judo Championships in Montpellier, France. A Turkish athlete refuses to shake hands with her opponent from Israel.

After Turkey’s Tugce Beder (23) lost to Tamar Malca (23) in the first round in the 48-kilogram class, the victorious Israeli approached her competitor with her hand outstretched. But this turns away. The war in Gaza obviously has consequences for sports.

There is currently no statement from the organizer or the Turkish woman. (SDA)
