Formula 1 has been racing for a long time in the country of the idols Ayrton Senna (†34, world champion 1988, 1990 and 1991), Nelson Piquet (71, world champion 1981, 1983, 1987) and the two-time world champion Emerson Fittipaldi (76). As the motorsport premier class announced on Friday, the contract with the Interlagos circuit in the Brazilian metropolis of Sao Paulo has been extended until 2030.
“Brazil has such a rich racing tradition and this legendary circuit is popular with drivers and fans all over the world,” says Formula 1 director Stefano Domenicali (58). The expansion is accompanied by investments in the modernization of the traditional location where Formula 1 has held the Brazilian Grand Prix since 1990. (AFP)
