The Texas Rangers win the World Series for the first time in their history. They won the Major League Baseball title with a 5-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The win is the fourth in the fifth game of the Finals series and the third in a row in Phoenix. The Rangers, who, like the Diamondbacks, qualified for the play-offs via a wild card, have a perfect record of eleven wins in eleven away games in the play-offs.
For the Rangers, it is the first title in the 63-year history of the franchise, which was founded in 1961 as the Washington Senators. Twelve years ago, the team came close and only needed one hit in the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals, but still lost.
