On Saturday, FC St. Gallen defeated the Grasshoppers 3-1. One player had to pay dearly for this victory: Christian Witzig (22).
According to the club, the midfielder broke his left hand. It happened when he fell after a duel as Witzig tried to brace himself for the impact.
Witzig will undergo surgery on Friday and then immediately go to rehab. The medical department of St. Gallen expects the absence to last four to six weeks. (beer)
