In terms of sport, the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB) is doing excellently. At this year’s World Cup, Germany won the silver medal – their best World Cup result since 1953. But off the ice there is plenty of excitement.
On Thursday, the Munich public prosecutor’s office searched the offices of the DEB for two hours. The reason for this is investigations that are currently underway against ex-president Franz Reindl (68) on suspicion of disloyalty, reports Spiegel. In May 2022, he resigned as honorary chairman of the association.
In detail, Reindl is suspected of having played a trick with the Swiss sports marketing company Infront. The ex-president is said to have given Infront too good conditions for advertising and broadcasting rights for years.
In return, according to the accusation, Infront financially kept DEB GmbH, a subsidiary where Reindl received a high salary as director, afloat. Both Reindl and Infront deny this. The DEB itself does not wish to comment on this at this time. (sbe)
