“We want to win something”: FCZ coach Henriksen talks about titles for the first time

Undefeated leader, never behind all season (!) and recently also scored a point at Champions League club YB: The FCZ of coach Bo Henriksen (48) is at a constant high. The excellent form has been a constant for months at the club, which is also in turmoil with the arrival of sports director Milos Malenovic (37).

In less than four weeks, Malenovic has already hired three new men who focus on developing his own talents. Henriksen at the media event on Thursday: “Milos has a lot of good ideas. New people are very important to get better. We need new, young players in the first team.”

Henriksen has not spoken about his future for months

However, thanks to the leader’s continued success, the starting XI is fixed and even the substitutions are quite predictable. Our own descendants currently have little chance of being deployed.

This is one of the topics that Henriksen and Malenovic regularly discuss. According to information from Blick, only one topic has not yet been discussed between the Dane and the new sports director: Henriksen’s future. The FCZ coach still doesn’t talk about it. The questions about this have been almost a running joke between journalists and Henriksen for months. This time he says: “It’s fantastic to work here. My future is not important. Because what matters is that we want to win something.” Winning something – for the first time Henriksen suggests that Zurich is now also flirting with trophies. Even though he mainly talks about the cup as the easiest way to a European Cup group stage.

Back to the coaching question. FCZ chairman Ancillo Canepa (70) has also shrugged off the subject so far. Internally, Henriksen’s future can still be put on the back burner. Things are going so well in terms of sport that you can safely wait until the winter break. And Malenovic said during his presentation at the beginning of October that he wanted to address the coaching question with a conversation soon – but the sports director is currently still quite busy with questions about the new structures, according to the three most recent recruitments.
