The Bayern fans have been longing for this moment. Saturday is the day. Manuel Neuer (37) returns between the posts after a ten-month injury break in the Bundesliga home match against Darmstadt 98. His position in Munich remains undisputed. Despite his age and higher injury risk, Neuer is still number 1.
The goalkeeper question for the German national team could be discussed further. In Neuer’s absence, Marc-André ter Stegen (31) attracted attention with a strong performance.
Many now see him ahead of Neuer for the European Home Championships next year. German goalkeeping legend Toni Schumacher (69) even advises Neuer to end his DFB career permanently.
