Alpha Tauri and Yuki Tsunoda are among those who have benefited from the stumbling elite.

At the start of the season it was already known that Williams-Mercedes, Alfa-Sauber, Haas-Ferrari and Alpha-Tauri-Honda would have to live off the crumbs of the top teams in 2023. That’s why Doha and Austin were now welcome races for the quartet.

Six points for Alfa-Sauber

In Qatar, a defective fuel line prevented Carlos Sainz (29) from starting, while Lewis Hamilton (38) had to retire with a team crash in the first corner. It was only his 30th defeat in the 17th season!

And because some drivers also handed out track limit penalties as a gift, Valtteri Bottas (34) and Guanyu Zhou (24) finished in 8th and 9th place, or six points.

Alpha Tauri five, Williams three

In America it was once again Hamilton and a Ferrari that were knocked out of the rankings. This time after the race because of their disqualifications (Blick reported). Now that Alpha Tauri was able to celebrate five points thanks to Yuki Tsunoda (23), Williams increased the lead with three free points to a total of 26 points.

What can we expect now in Mexico at 2200 meters? The upcoming new team boss at Alpha Tauri (which is still changing its name), Peter Bayer (52), told Blick in Singapore: “We will not be the last!”

Bottas tenth again?

Well, four races before the final in Abu Dhabi, Red Bull’s B team has moved 10:12 points closer to Haas-Ferrari. And the American team with Nico Hülkenberg (36) and Kevin Magnussen (31) has been out for weeks. And if Tsunoda continues to drive in top form (Daniel Ricciardo, 34, looks old there), then Alfa-Sauber will also be 16. Be careful with points.

The team from Hinwil hopes for the result of Mexico in 2022. Bottas at least took the last World Cup point from the third row. Max Verstappen (26) won ahead of Hamilton, Sergio Pérez (33), George Russell (25), Sainz and Charles Leclerc (26).
