Defending champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) has increased his lead in the MotoGP general classification. The Italian finishes second behind Frenchman Johann Zarco in the main race of the most important motorcycle Grand Prix in Australia on Saturday. With four races to go, Bagnaia now has a 27-point lead over his pursuer Jorge Martin (Sp).
For Zarco it is the first victory of his MotoGP career. However, the brand colleague of Martin, Zarco and Bagnaia at Ducati lost a few places in the final round at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and fell to fifth place.
The main race, originally scheduled for Sunday, was postponed to Saturday due to a threatening storm. If, contrary to the weather forecast, a race is possible on Sunday, the sprint planned for Saturday at 2 p.m. (5 a.m. CET) will be moved.
From Australia, the motorcycle pilots continue their way to Thailand, Malaysia and Qatar, with the season finale in Valencia at the end of November. (AFP)
