Trio contributes assists: No more Swiss goals in the NHL

Swiss celebrations – here Nino Niederreiter – have until now only taken place when teammates scored goals.

More than a week into the NHL season, Switzerland is still without a goal scorer. Despite numerous goals scored, no Swiss could be among the scorers on Friday evening. Roman Josi, Nino Niederreiter and Kevin Fiala certainly provide the assists.

Josi assisted on the fourth goal, which his team scored in the majority, in the Nashville Predators’ 4-1 victory over the New York Rangers. In the Predators’ second win of the season, the 33-year-old from Bern was on the ice for almost 20 minutes.

Kevin Fiala scored the goals to make it 3-2 and 4-2 in the Los Angeles Kings’ 7-3 win in Minnesota. It is the second win in a row for the California franchise, and for the 27-year-old from Eastern Switzerland it is already his sixth score point in the fourth match.

Next bankruptcy for Niederreiter

The Winnipeg Jets, who suffered their third loss in the fourth game, are still not up to speed. The Canadians lost 3-5 to the reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights in front of their home crowd. Nino Niederreiter has his stick in the game as the Jets take the lead.

The engine of the Vancouver Canucks is also sputtering. After two victories at the start, the franchise from Western Canada suffered its second defeat in a row. Despite leading at halftime, the Canucks, with Pius Suter getting nearly 13 minutes of ice time, lost 3-4 to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Arizona Coyotes have found their way back to victory after two defeats. Janis Moser’s team won 6-2 in St. Louis. The 23-year-old from Biel was on the ice for almost 18 minutes and left with a plus-1 balance. (SDA)
