Boris Becker (55) confirms: he will be the coach of tennis star Holger Rune (20). The former Wimbledon champion told Eurosport: “My calendar allows it, and I have always been interested in Holger because he brings such dedication and temperament to the tennis court.”
In recent days there have been rumors that Becker is working with the man from Denmark. Rune posted a photo on Instagram on Saturday. Also in the photo: Boris Becker. «Holger invited me for a training week in Monte Carlo. I also had a long conversation there with his mother Aneke and his performance coach Lapo Becherini. “The three of us are now responsible for Holger,” Becker explains at Eurosport.
Soon he will support Rune in the stadium. Becker: “I’ll be there in Basel at the latest, then I’ll finish Paris-Bercy with Holger – and hopefully help him qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin.” The Swiss Indoors starts in Basel on October 25.
The collaboration between Becker and Rune will run at least until the end of the year. Then we will sit down together and decide “whether the collaboration has a future and whether we will enter 2024 together,” says Becker. For the German it is a return to coaching.
