Granit Xhaka’s move to Bayer Leverkusen has proven to be a great success in every respect. The Werkself are the undefeated leaders in the Bundesliga and the 31-year-old’s jersey is a bestseller in the fan shop.
And things couldn’t have gone better for the national team captain personally. The Swiss was always in the starting line-up, played five of the seven league games and was the source of a Leverkusen goal several times. The fact that the midfielder knows how to convince on the Lower Rhine is also evident from his impressive passing statistics, which catapult him into the top five ball distributors in Europe.
This is evident from the latest edition of the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) in Neuchâtel. In the index, which consists of the number and percentage of successful passes (per match), comparison with teammates and the level of matches played in the current season, Xhaka receives a score of 122.6. This puts him in 5th place in the top 100. His statistics: 92.7 percent success rate with an average of 93 passes per game.
