Servette will face Red Bull Munich in the eighth finals of the Champions League.

Spirit of innovation as an act of desperation?

This means that Swiss champions Servette will face German champions RB Munich, who are coached by former SCB coach Toni Söderholm, in the first knockout round in mid-November. The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers compete with their league rival Adler Mannheim, who finished the preliminary round in first place with five wins from six games. As in September (1:4), Biel will face Färjestad from Karlstad, Sweden.

Defending champions already eliminated

Ocelari Trinec secured the last ticket for the knockout phase. The Czech champions defended their place in the top 16 on Wednesday thanks to a comfortable 4-0 home win against Danish champions Aalborg. The fact that Tappara Tampere, who lost their chances of progress with a 3-6 defeat in Biel on Tuesday, is eliminated after the preliminary round is a rarity, but nothing new. In 2017, JYP Jyväskylä from Finland suffered the same fate.

The round of 16 first legs will take place on the 14th/15th. In November, the return matches will also take place a week later on Tuesday and Wednesday. (SDA)
