Lake Phoenix in the Hörde district of Dortmund is actually a peaceful area. The houses are chic and the residents are usually well off.
On Monday the peace is disturbed by sirens. The fire brigade had to deploy a larger number in the morning after a fire broke out in a penthouse apartment. The emergency services spent more than an hour and a half fighting the flames.
According to ‘Bild’, the luxurious building belongs to none other than BVB star Salih Özcan (25). However, he was not at the scene at the time of the fire. Only later today will he return to Dortmund after Turkey’s international victory against Croatia (1-0). Yet he is not completely in the dark. The operations manager reportedly already informed him of the incident by telephone.
According to initial findings, no one was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is also still unclear. However, according to ‘Bild’, there are indications that a short circuit caused a cable fire that ultimately set fire to the balcony furniture.
Most of the stately apartment remained undamaged. As a precaution, the fire brigade tore off a piece of the facade due to possible embers. (Gentlemen)
