SCB captain Moser ends his silence: “I had to listen to statements”

That’s what we call glasses: 0 goals, 0 assists. In the 13th game of the season, Simon Moser (34) managed to wipe away this statistical blemish. He scored his first point of the season against Servette (2:3 nV) and secured another point for SCB with the late equalizer.

Moser was well aware that he did not yet have a point on his account. “Every now and then you get questions about it and you have to listen to statements,” says the SCB captain. “I can deal with that well.” “It is of course easier when the team is doing well,” says the three-time champion. “But I definitely expect something different from myself and want more. If you want to get ahead and be a leader, you have to be able to get results.”

Moser no longer plays a role in the power play

Because of his rest he did not have any sleepless nights. Because things weren’t going well offensively and there was a lack of confidence, he focused more on defense and boxing, says the Emmentaler resident.

Moser can’t remember such a long silence. At the start of the year, he had not scored a goal in the last twelve qualifying matches, but had recorded one assist.

The Nati forward makes no excuses or points out that his role has changed. He barely gets another chance in the power game. On average this is only eight seconds per match, while last season it was over two minutes. To do this, coach Jussi Tapola resorts to Moser, who is even more outnumbered.

However, the majority game without Moser has not yet worked. The success rate stands at just 12 percent and SCB has scored just four powerplay goals. Last season the Bernese team achieved an average of 21 percent.

Last fall, the power wing got off to an excellent start with seven goals in the first twelve games. “I’m actually happy with how our line has been playing for a long time. We’re just not that cold-blooded in attack. And there will definitely be more from me in the near future,” says Moser. “I have to make better decisions in attack and move a little better, then things will go well.” Until now, the veteran was mainly on the ice with Thierry Bader and Joël Vermin. He benefited from the preparatory work of Corban Knight and Dominik Kahun for his goal.
