Then it concerns the accusation by Heiko Vogel and moderator Eggli that FC Basel’s strategy is wild. “The strategy is not wild, but very clear. When we took over the club two and a half years ago, our strategy was to make the club financially healthy. We have reduced the structural deficit from 35 million. Next season there will be only eight million. It was bleeding everywhere and we had to stop the bleeding. And make a lot out of nothing.” However, you couldn’t just stand there and say you didn’t want to be successful in the sport. “But we should have appeared more modest and made it clear to people that we first have to put the club on a stable financial basis in the long term so that we can grow again.”
