The tingling feeling is getting stronger: the new ski season starts in three weeks. The first two giant slaloms of the winter will take place in Sölden (Austria) from October 29 – as long as there is enough snow on the slopes.
One person who will not be there is the Slovenian Meta Hrovat (25). The 25-year-old will be out indefinitely as she suffers from back problems. «I cannot complete the training as we imagined, neither in terms of quality nor quantity. I have already removed Sölden from my season plan, that’s for sure,” Hrovat is quoted in the Solvenian media.
The decision also makes it clear that ski enthusiasts will have to wait for Hrovat’s comeback. As a reminder: the Slovenian was considered a great talent in the ski circus, but unexpectedly ended her career a year ago at the age of 24.
In April this year, the three-time junior world champion made a U-turn and announced her comeback for the season opener in Sölden. “Meta has decided to make a comeback. She feels like skiing is still her world,” Slovenian ski boss Janez Slivnik explained at the time.
The giant specialist, born in Kranjska Gora in 1998, has reached the podium four times in the World Cup so far, with her last race taking place in March 2022. (par)
