The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) award honors teams “who have left their mark on the sport through their historic achievements.”
The Swiss took 5th place in the team final with Noe Seifert (25), Christian Baumann (28), Florian Langenegger (20), Taha Serhani (28) and Luca Giubellini (20) and qualified for the Olympic Games for the third time in a row games. The FIG justifies the award of the $5,000 prize with the “special revival of the Swiss team in recent years”.
In a statement he stressed: “Never was this more evident than in the team final on Tuesday evening in Antwerp, when Switzerland achieved its strongest team result since 1954.” (SDA/men)
