The fans of the Ostkurve Bern criticize the Zurich police for their actions on September 30 before the match between GC and YB.

Serious accusations from the Ostkurve Bern to the Zurich police: In a statement, the fans criticized the police action on September 30 before the match between GC and YB. To this end, they especially criticize the short-term ban on the fan march, the inadequate communication on site and the concealment of the reasons for the measures taken. They also accuse the police of using rubber bullets, pepper spray and tear gas without any reason.

The Zurich city police reject these accusations. Accordingly, the decision and reasons for the march ban would have been communicated well before the arrival of the special train in Zurich-Altstetten. “The conditions for a march in Zurich have not changed for years,” said media spokesman Pascal Siegenthaler.

Beer cans thrown at police

When we arrived at Altstetten train station there were no problems initially. The fans walked to the special buses as planned. “Suddenly the march stopped and a larger group wanted to break through the police barrier to Hohlstrasse,” Siegenthaler continues. Bottles and beer cans flew at the police vehicles. There was property damage to three vehicles.

To calm the group and push it back, police used rubber bullets and tear gas. “The march now took the planned route to the special buses,” says Siegenthalter.

When we returned, only rubber bullets were used again as fans threw objects at the police. (Gentlemen)
