Four Swiss in the top 100: these are the long-running favorites in world football

To show how high the physical and mental strain in professional football is now, Fifpro evaluated the playing times of football players at the highest level. It becomes clear that some Swiss players are also among the most used players.

No player in the world played more minutes last season than the Cameroonian central defender Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui (6,773) for the Chinese first division club Beijing Guoan. In second place is Manchester United’s Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes with 6,749 minutes played. Rodri (5738) from Manchester City completes the podium, also a Premier League player.

Akanji, the Swiss long-running favorite

Swiss footballers are also prominently represented in the rankings. Manuel Akanji is ranked 39th among all players in the world, including goalkeepers, with a playing time of 4,991 minutes. No Swiss played more than the Man City defender last season. His next Swiss pursuer is Nati captain Granit Xhaka (place 43, 4960 minutes).

Also in the top 100 are Djibril Sow (rank 72, 4669 minutes) and Dan Ndoye (rank 82, 4609 minutes). However, one or two players are missing from the rankings.
