The fourth week of the NFL season sees an emotional comeback in the top game.
Nine months after his cardiac arrest, Bufallo Bills professional Damar Hamlin (25) is celebrating his return to the NFL. The fans awaited him with rapturous applause in the home game against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills are also looking forward to the return of their player on X (formerly Twitter): “Nice to have you back, number three!”
It was a shock to the NFL when Hamlin’s heart stopped in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2. He was resuscitated on the field and later put into an induced coma in hospital. The NFL scene feared for his life. Fortunately, Hamlin recovered well. Just four months after the incident, he was able to start building his comeback. He joined the 53-man squad in the preseason and is now back on the field for the first time.
But he was waiting for his first NFL game since the NFL opener a month ago. Until now. On Sunday he will replace the injured Jordan Poyer (32). He shares his anticipation of the first serious fight with the fans before the match. During the warm-up he runs a lap of honor and gives the stadium visitors a high five. The adrenaline is definitely back for Hamlin.
In addition to Hamlin’s comeback, it is also the top match between the Bufallo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. Both teams are among the favorites for the Super Bowl title this season. Will the strong Bills defense or the feared Dolphins offense prevail? Ultimately, the answer on the field is surprisingly clear. The Bills won 48:20 in dominant fashion, both offensively and defensively.
The game starts energetically on both sides. The first five drives result in touchdowns. The Bills then gain the upper hand with a physical and effective running game. Halfway through the second quarter, the points difference increased to 31:14. The match is then as good as decided. Especially since quarterback Josh Allen is having an excellent game. He scored the 40th consecutive touchdown of his career – the third most in NFL history.
While girlfriend and singer Taylor Swift watches, Travis Kelce scores a narrow victory against the Kansas City Chiefs. Three points decide the game against the New York Jets (23:20). The two teams fought hard until the end. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made two interceptions. But then he saves the victory with important moves. Kelce caught six passes for 60 yards. But he fails to score a touchdown.
