Martin wins again: MotoGP race in Japan canceled due to rain

class=”sc-29f61514-0 icZBHN”>

Jorge Martin wins the sprint and Grand Prix double in Japan.

Shortly before the start of the MotoGP race in Japan, rain started in Motegi, making it necessary to change bikes after the first lap. This caused the precipitation to become heavier, causing the race management to take a break halfway through the distance. As the weather did not improve, the interruption turned into a cancellation.

Despite the crowds in the pit lane, Martin kept an overview of the Ducati during the engine changes. Meanwhile, the Madrid native, who started from pole position, dropped out of the top class, but quickly regained the lead and only relinquished it at the finish. He won ahead of the Italian Francesco Bagnaia, also on a Ducati, and the Spaniard Marc Marquez on a Honda.

With his third Grand Prix victory or third double of the current season – he had already won the sprint and main tests at the German and San Marino Grand Prix – Martin further reduced his lead over leader Bagnaia in the World Cup standings. As second seed, he is still three points behind the defending champion. (SDA)
