On Friday morning, Alexis Beka Beka (22), midfielder at OGC Nice, threatened to jump from a highway bridge above Nice.
As “BFM Côte d’Azur” reports, Beka Beka stood on the bridge’s guardrail about 100 meters above the ground. The fire brigade, police and military units quickly arrived on the scene.
The player was on the bridge for about three hours and around 2 p.m. he abandoned his plan – after hours of consultation with a police psychologist. His club also sent a psychologist to the location.
Beka Beka, teammate of Swiss national team player Jordan Lotomba (25), is now under the care of the fire brigade.
Beka Beka joined Nice in the summer of 2022. He has not yet received a minute of action in the current season.
The club canceled all press events on Friday. There is a home game against Brest on Sunday. (ch)
