New job after dismissal: Beat Feuz becomes a ski expert at SRF

Immediately after his last performance as a racing driver, Beat Feuz was asked by Blick how he would respond to an offer from Swiss television?

The answer from the four-time downhill World Cup winner: “I would listen carefully to such an offer. Especially because as a ski expert I would have a lot to say. But the SRF is optimally positioned with Marc Berthod.” The 36-year-old has now actually received an offer from Leutschenbach. And Feuz said “yes”.

But that does not mean that former SRF men’s ski experts Marc Berthod (40) and Didier Plaschy (50) will remain silent. Plaschy (50) will demonstrate his iconic expertise as he has done so far in the technical events; Feuz and Berthod will mainly be featured in the downhill and super-G events. The special story between the Bernese and the Graubünden will thus have a new chapter.

The ice between Berthod and Feuz is broken

In their early days at Swiss Ski, they didn’t really know each other. “We were quite hostile in the beginning,” Feuz admitted in an interview with Sonntagsblick last year. The “Kugelblitz” took responsibility for the initial problems with Berthod: “Looking back, I have to admit that I was a complete bastard in my youth. I had a lot of self-confidence from an early age, I could ski well and I let my colleagues feel that off the slopes as well. That didn’t sit well with someone like Berthod, who came to this circus a few years before me. In retrospect, I could understand that.”

And that is why the ice between the three-time Lauberhorn winner and the two-time Adelboden champion broke completely at one point. «After a few years, Marc and I became such good colleagues that we often shared rooms at the ski circus. We realized we were on the same page.” And soon, Beat and Marc will operate on the same broadcast frequency.
