“We have to get points as quickly as possible”: for Servette and Weiler, only the victory against Winterthur counts

There isn’t much work going on at Servette at the moment. The Geneva team has only achieved one victory in the Super League. That was on the first day of play against GC. Since then, one disappointment followed another. First there were three draws. The Grenats now have four bankruptcies in a row after the defeat against Lucerne.

The first alarm bells are already sounding in Geneva. The strong preseason that ended with second place has long been forgotten. This also has to do with the fact that there is no longer Alain Geiger (62), but another coach, René Weiler (50), on the sidelines. But the resident of Winterthur is slowly coming under pressure.

In any case, Weiler’s praise has run out. It doesn’t help the coach that Servette was actually the better team in the last match against Lucerne and scored 28 goals. “If we estimate our chances, you leave the field as a loser,” said Weiler about the defeat against his old club.

Points are needed

On Wednesday, the in-form Winterthur awaits the 8th matchday. Weiler’s hometown team, of all places. The previous surprise team from the Super League already has eleven points after seven match days, five more than the Grenats. “We have to get points as quickly as possible,” says Weiler.

Last season a match between these two teams ended in a draw. Servette won the other three games, but only by one goal. Weiler probably wouldn’t care about that this time. Only victory counts.
