Former NHL player Nic Kerdiles has died. At the age of just 29, the ex-professional died this weekend in a serious motorcycle accident.
According to initial investigations, Kerdiles is said to have stopped at a stop sign in the American city of Nashville and then crashed into a BMW. He later died in hospital from his injuries.
As a player, Kerdiles was drafted in the second round by the Anaheim Ducks in 2012. The NHL franchise reacted with shock to the news of the death. “We are heartbroken by the news of Nic Kerdiles. An Irvine native, Nic was the first player from Orange County to play for the Ducks in 2017,” the California team said. “Our thoughts and deep condolences go out to his family and loved ones.”
In addition to playing in the NHL and the AHL, Kerdiles also made several appearances for the US national teams. (cat)
