Mountain bike star Nino Schurter: 3rd place in the Olympic test race in Paris.

A skeleton team is also good for top positions. Mountain bike legend Nino Schurter (37) is the only Swiss among the men who will start in the test race on the Paris 2024 Olympic course.

But as almost always, the Churer is one of the fastest during the main rehearsal in July next year. Schurter is in third place and finishes just a blink behind winner Victor Koretzky (29, Fr) and Anton Cooper (29, Neus).

Apparently the new circuit in Elancourt west of Paris is suitable for the 2016 Olympic champion. Will Schurter actually be present in Paris again at the age of 38? It remains an open question even if he is well on his way to claiming one of the two starting spots per country.

Sina Frei best Swiss woman, Keller bad luck

In addition to Schurter, Mathias Flückiger (35 next week), Lars Forster (30), Filippo Colombo (25) and Dario Lillo (21) would also have been eligible to start. The quartet withdrew for various reasons.

France also leads the way among women. Loana Lecompte (24) wins confidently ahead of Laura Stigger (23, Austria) and compatriot Pauline Ferrand Prevot (31). Best rider of the Swiss team, which included all women?

Sina Frei (26) in 5th place. Behind them, the U23 World Cup medalists Ronja Blöchlinger (22) in 12th place and Ginia Caluori (21) in 15th place draw attention to themselves. The young duo was actually allowed to ride alone during the training sessions, but then the organizers opened the race at short notice to all riders who were already present.

Defending champion Jolanda Neff (30), however, only finishes in 22nd place. And world number 1 Alessandra Keller (27)? She battles with Lecompte for the lead until a maneuver becomes too narrow and Keller falls. Then the changer is damaged and a flat tire occurs – 30th place in the field with 36 drivers.
