Nagelsmann will be the new DFB coach: Kimmich and Goretzka probably happy, Neuer less so

Julian Nagelsmann (36) follows Hansi Flick (58) – this headline was already in 2021. Then it was about FC Bayern Munich. According to German media, Nagelsmann will now succeed him as national coach.

With a view to the 2024 home championship, he must lead the team back on the road to success. An opportunity for him, but also for some players.

Nagelsmann has had to deal with a lot of it. In Munich, Joshua Kimmich (28) and Leon Goretzka (28) were big supporters of him. The same goes for Goretzka, whom Flick recently stopped taking into account. It is different for Manuel Neuer (37). While he was injured, his goalkeeping coach was released from Bayern. He still blames Nagelsmann for that. It is uncertain whether he will return to goal under him and wear the captain’s armband again.

Nagelsmann and Niklas Süle (28) said goodbye to background noise. When he moved from Bayern to Dortmund, he was first left out of the squad for the last match and then called up because he was unavailable. Sule refused. Jürgen Klopp (56) has no problem with Nagelsmann as the new DFB coach. He was also considered as Flick’s successor, but declined. “I am committed to loyalty to Liverpool,” he says on RTL+. “I signed a contract here and, as far as I can remember, I was not drugged or tied up and had to sign with my mouth. That was a free decision. And that’s why it doesn’t fit.”

If Nagelsmann were to become DFB coach, he would be the youngest national coach in history at the age of 36. For Klopp, age does not matter in this regard. “At the age of 28, he has already proven that he is a fantastic coach,” he says.
