The Dutch Demi Vollering won the three-day Tour de Romandie Féminin. The Dutch woman, who lives in Switzerland, was unable to steal the leader’s jersey on the 132 km from Vernier to Nyon.
With Marlen Reusser in third place, a Swiss woman also stood on the overall podium. The Bernese woman, who performed much better than expected in the mountain stage on Saturday, lost a total of 12 seconds. Katarzyna Niewiadoma secured second place. The Pole was always looking for Marlen Reusser’s rear wheel on Sunday, but she did not make a serious attack on the yellow jersey.
German champion Liane Lippert took the day’s victory in an animated stage with several smaller climbs. In the sprint she won from, among others, Marlen Reusser, who finished fourth.
The second edition of the Tour de Romandie for women was well attended. 26-year-old Demi Vollering is currently number 1 and has won the overall victory in the Tour de France. Like Marlen Reusser, she drives for the SD Worx team. (SDA)
