Fanchini lost her sister: ex-ski star after emotional months of baby happiness

New addition to the Italian ski family. As Nadia Fanchini (37) announced on Instagram, she has become a mother again. The youngest offspring of her and her husband Devid Salvadori (45) is called Giacomo and was born on September 14. For both of them it is the third son after Alessandro (3) and Davide (2).

Many former teammates congratulate the Italian former ski racer on her offspring. Nadia Delago (25) sends a hug, Laura Pirovano (25), Manuela Moelgg (40) and biathlete Dorothea Wierer (35) also send their congratulations.

Emotional year 2023

For Fanchini, the birth of Giacomo is once again an emotional experience this year. The cast left leg, which can be seen in the snapshot with her son, suggests that she recently injured herself. She also had to deal with the death of her sister Elena († 37) together with Sabrina (35) in February.

The eldest of the three Fanchini sisters lost her battle with cancer. She was diagnosed for the first time in 2018, the relapse followed in the summer of 2022 and she died a few months later.

More than six months after this bitter loss, Giacomo once again puts a smile on Nadia Fanchini’s lips.

She also shone during her skiing career. In 250 World Cup races she reached the podium 13 times. She won a super-G in 2008 and a downhill eight years later. Fanchini celebrated her greatest successes at world championships. She won gold three times among the juniors (2004 in the Super-G and 2005 in the downhill and giant slalom) and among the elite she won bronze (2009) and silver (2013) in the downhill.

She resigned together with Elena in the spring of 2020. A year and a half after the end of her career, she became a mother for the first time. “My most beautiful medal,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. She now has three with Giacomo. (beer)
