Even before the start of the 2023/24 season, SC Bern announces a spectacular transfer for the 2024/25 season. EHC Kloten’s aggressive leader Marc Marchon (28) takes off his hat. The striker has signed a contract in Bern for three seasons plus an option for another year.
In recent years, Marchon has developed into a popular energy player who gets under the opponent’s skin, has a big mouth, but also has good playing qualities. After his junior year and his first experiences at the professional level at EV Zug, Marchon moved to Kloten in 2017. He remained loyal to the Zurich team even after relegation, played four seasons with Kloten in the Swiss League and played a key role in their promotion in 2022. The Central Swiss player also performed well in the National League last season. Be a nuisance to his opponents with his 11 goals and 11 assists in 47 games.
His future club also felt that in the pre-play-offs last spring. In the series between Bern and Kloten, Marchon had fun constantly challenging the hothead Chris DiDomenico, who has since moved to Fribourg. With consequences: Marchon had to shower early in Game 1, and DiDomenico in Game 2. Marchon also had a fight with Romain Loeffel.
Marchon’s fearless performances have of course also impressed the sports management of the SCB. This week, SCB CEO Marc Lüthi called for a return to the old SCB DNA and more robustness in an interview with Blick. With Marchon comes a player who fits this mold. Sports director Andrew Ebbett said: “With his playing style, his passion and his unstoppable will to win, Marc Marchon is a perfect fit for SCB.”
