Yes, on the one hand the clear words of Murat Yakin. “I won’t tolerate it.” “Not smart.” And: “It won’t happen again.”

But really noticeable consequences? A sign to publicly reinforce the hierarchy levels between coach and captain? Stay out. Xhaka is also in the starting line-up against Andorra. Although without the best footballer of the national team, nothing can go wrong against number 154 in the FIFA world rankings.

Which brings us to the point: Xhaka is so good at sports that he can apparently do anything. Could the criticism come from another player? Yakin probably would have sidelined him after the first incident.

As a player and as a coach, Yakin has proven several times that he is not afraid of conflict. Around 2012, when he moved Alex Frei to the left wing a few weeks after signing in Basel. And so the sacred cow at FCB was publicly dismantled. A few months later, Frei ended his career.
