Athletics star Mo Farah (40) ends his career with a 4th place. At the end of his great career, he narrowly missed the podium. The 40-year-old four-time Olympic champion finished fourth at the Great North Run in Newcastle on Sunday. Farah finished the 21.1 kilometer half marathon race 3:29 minutes behind winner Tamirat Tola (32) from Ethiopia. Last year’s marathon world champion won in 59:58 minutes.
‘It was very emotional. “A lot was going through my mind,” Farah told the British broadcaster BBC afterwards. “Running means everything to me. Running saved me,” said the Somali-born Olympic champion in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters in 2012 and 2016. Farah also won six world titles on the track before switching to road running. He won six times in Newcastle and won the Chicago Marathon in 2018. (SDA/men)
