Despite pain: Bagnaia on podium a week after horror fall

Francesco Bagnaia is happy with third place in Misano.

Francesco Bagnaia (26) turns out to be a master of suffering. A week ago he experienced the horrors in Barcelona. The Italian fell violently, after which South African Brad Binder hit his thigh and shin. Miraculously, he escaped without serious injuries, but did suffer from bruises.

And now? The MotoGP world champion and world championship leader rides in Misano as if the brutal accident never happened. He took third place in the sprint race on Saturday. Exactly the same on the label.

Martin wins and occupies the World Cup

On Sunday he will initially dominate the race at the front together with the other Ducati drivers Jorge Martin (25) and Marco Bezzecchi (24). The trio leaves early, but Bagnaia can’t keep up until the end. Martin ultimately has the upper hand. The Spaniard takes his third GP victory in MotoGP ahead of Bezzecchi, who, like Bagnaia, crashed in Barcelona and travels with a damaged hand and a lot of pain.

And then comes Bagnaia. The 26-year-old is not only fast again, but can also fight. He fends off the onrushing Dani Pedrosa at the end of the race and climbs onto the podium. Strong.

Yet Martin is of course making up ground in the World Cup. He turns a 50-point deficit into 36.

Krummenacher in 11th place in the MotoE

In the other classes? Spaniard Pedro Acosta (19) won in Moto2 and Colombian David Alonso (17) won in Moto3. The MotoE victory goes to the Italian Nicholas Spinelli (22). The Zurich Oberlander Randy Krummenacher (33) comes in 11th place.
