Joseph ensures home victory: Werro highlight at meeting in Bellinzona

From a Swiss perspective, Audrey Werro’s performance received the most attention at the meeting in Bellinzona. Over the 800 m she is clocked in 1:58.13 minutes.

The 19-year-old from Freiburg, the number 1 in the world under the promises, came very close to the Swiss record of Selina Büchel in 2015 (1:57.95). Audrey Werro never got the ideal line. She often walked outside, but found two perfect draft horses in Natoya Goule-Toppin from Jamaica and Addison Wiley from the US. The French-speaking Swiss came third. Joseph at the Diamond League Final

The organizers also signed some of the best in the world. Elaine Thompson-Herah was celebrated as the winner of the 100 m. The Olympic champion from Rio and Tokyo was stopped after 10.92 seconds. Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, who returned from Tokyo 2021 with gold in the hurdles, won in 12.56 seconds. The Dutch Femke Bol, world champion in the 400 m hurdles, lowered the meeting record to 52.79 seconds.

Oblique Sevilla won the men’s 100 meters. The 22-year-old from Jamaica missed the medal in Budapest by just one-thousandth of a second. American Olympic champion Valarie Allman missed the year record discus throw (69.09) by just over a meter.
