Jonas Omlin (29) has been struggling with shoulder complaints for a long time. In pre-season, Obwaldner, who previously played for Montpellier in Ligue 1, fell unluckily on his shoulder in a friendly against his former employer and later had to be substituted in pain.
In addition, Omlin injured himself again in training last week, so he missed the home game against Bayern Munich (1:2). He is also missing in the selection of national coach Murat Yakin for the European Championship qualifiers against Kosovo and Andorra.
Coach Gerardo Seoane (44) denied the first reports about an operation by ‘Bild’ last weekend. But as the club now reports, follow-up research has shown that surgery is inevitable. Omlin will undergo surgery next Monday in Zurich by a leading shoulder specialist.
