From next season, the top scorers will appear as “PostFinance Top Scorers” in the Women’s League, the top women’s ice hockey league in Switzerland. PostFinance announced this in a press release on Tuesday morning.
After sponsoring the top scorers for men for over 20 years, they are now following suit for women. From the start of the season on September 16, her team’s best scorer wears the flame jersey and the corresponding yellow helmet in the Women’s League and can thus earn money for the youngsters.
However, the concept of finance is somewhat different from that of men. While Postfinance in the National League pays CHF 300 per goal and support to the youth fund of the respective club, the money is distributed fairly among the women.
Because the gap between the teams is bigger and the top scorers of the best teams collect much more points, a lump sum of CHF 150,000 will be divided equally between the eight clubs.
With this commitment, Postfinance underlines its commitment to equal opportunities for women and men in ice hockey, said Sarah Brunner, Head of Sponsorship, in the press release. (byl)
